According to an FDA enforcement notice, several popular drinks made by the same soda company have been recalled for failing to declare several chemicals and preservatives, including dyes that have been linked to cancer.
The recall, which the FDA is calling “voluntary,” affects four Charles Boghini beverages sold in restaurants across the United States.
The company’s Pink Lemonade, Cola Flavor Base, Yellow Lemonade and Yellow Lemonade X beverages, sold to food establishments in one- and five-gallon quantities, are affected.
Pink Lemon Drink was recalled for containing FD&C Red No. 40 dye, a red dye used in foods, drugs, and cosmetics that has been linked to colon cancer. Yellow Lemonade and Yellow Lemonade X were found to contain FD&C Yellow No. 5 dye, which may cause allergic reactions in some people.
The cola flavour base was also found to contain sulfites, a common preservative that can cause respiratory problems and other issues if consumed in large quantities.

The soda recall issued by Charles Boggini Co. was voluntary.
The recall was said to be voluntary, but Charles Boghini did not acknowledge it and did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
According to the FDA, companies are required to disclose the dyes, preservatives and other chemicals they use in manufacturing or risk recalls and fines.
