But narratively, Insomniac is backed into a corner because there’s likely no final villain who already knows, or will eventually find out, that Peter and Miles are Spider-Man. Having the main villain not know Spider-Man’s true identity doesn’t make the story inherently disappointing, but it would be odd for Insomniac to break with that tradition now without a compelling reason to do so.
The Green Goblin definitely knows that Peter Parker is Spider-Man in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3
The Green Goblin may not be the story’s only villain. Marvel’s Spider-Man 3Even though his successive teasers in the series have implied that he will be the main antagonist in the third movie, even if Harry becomes the Green Goblin. There’s still a chance that Harry will become the Green Goblin, which would mean Insomniac will further strengthen Harry as a villain in successive games, but Norman’s grief means that he will probably drink the G-serum himself for some reason. Whoever the main villain is, whether it’s Norman, Harry, Otto, or someone unexpected, it’s almost certain that by the time they have their final battle at the end of the game, they will find out Spider-Man’s true identity.
This ensures that the final villain reveal will be someone Peter and Miles know intimately, and won’t come as much of a surprise as Doctor Octopus. Marvel’s Spider-Man Until release, and unfortunately, with so many loose threads needing acknowledgment, this may be Insomniac’s last and only chance to reveal the villain to players.
