EA College Football 25
EA College Football 25 will be released on July 19th (early access July 15th) and will be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, and is already listed as one of the top 10 games on the PlayStation Store.
There’s no question how big an impact the return of college football will have on the gaming industry, but July’s releases are just the start of a wave of sports video game releases that will arrive rapidly through October.
Here’s what’s coming up for sports gamers.
July 19 – EA College Football 25
It’s been 13 years since the last official college football game was released, and while I’ve played the upcoming game and there are some features that won’t carry over to Year 1 (full roster editing and exporting draft classes), the gameplay, visuals, dynasty mode depth, and presentation will exceed expectations.
The game will be a huge success and will be a must-have for any sports video game fan.
August 16th – Madden 25
With all the attention this year focused on the return of college leagues, it’s easy to forget about EA’s NFL product, but I’ve had the chance to play Madden 25 and it’s shaping up to be a strong year for the franchise.
I think we’ll see improvements in gameplay, better visuals and the franchise mode offering more depth than it has in over a decade.
It’s shaping up to be a good year for video game football.
Early September – NBA 2K25
Little is known about the upcoming NBA 2K title yet, but more information should emerge soon. The series has become a huge hit that has grown far beyond the sports video game genre.
It’s only natural to expect another big, high-profile release, and judging by past examples, NBA 2K is likely to be released in early September.
Late September – EA FC 25
Like the NBA 2K series, EA FC is also a rebranded franchise that is incredibly popular, and with soccer being the biggest sport in the world, the push for this franchise is even more significant.
While details about the release are scarce, we do know that another big game is in development at EA Vancouver, and the publisher/developer is looking to up the ante.
EA FC is scheduled for release in late September.
Early October – NHL 25
At times it feels like NHL is a forgotten series from EA, and while I enjoy it almost every year, it feels like the promotion behind it, at least in the US, isn’t all that strong, which is probably understandable.
Either way, this year’s game should be released in early October. Unfortunately, it’s a tough situation to be in, following in the footsteps of EA FC, NBA 2K, Madden, and now College Football.
Now, there’s another major release coming up that brings us even closer to the release of NHL 25 .
October 11th – Perfect
The desire to bring boxing back to the world of video games wasn’t as intense as the desire for EA College Football, but some would argue it was close.
The last AAA boxing game of this calibre for consoles was Fight Night Champion, released 14 years ago.
Finally, after a lengthy stint in Steam Early Access, Undisputed will be releasing on October 11th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
If you need to make tougher purchasing decisions in the coming months, consider that Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is releasing on October 24th.
Good luck, you’ll probably need a bigger hard drive.
