EKU Men’s Tennis Appears in UTR Sports NIT Championship for the First Time in Program History

Palo Alto, California – After a 20-win season and an appearance in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, the Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team (20-9, 5-4 ASUN) advances to the UTR Sports NIT Championship for the first time in program history. It was announced that. on tuesday.

The Maroon and White will be playing in their first national postseason tournament since 2015, when they faced No. 5 Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament. This week’s postseason announcement marks EKU’s fifth national postseason tournament (his fourth in the NCAA Tournament) in program history.

The Colonels ended the 2024 ASUN Conference Championship on April 19 with a 4-0 loss to Stetson.

EKU continues its historic season with 20 wins, the second-most in program history. The Maroon and White are up 16 wins from 2023, the largest increase in wins in program history. The Colonels have the best home record in the nation this season at 16-0. EKU ranked him No. 74 in the nation, the first ranking of his ITA team in program history. The Maroon and White defeated 68th-ranked Stetson 5-2 on April 5, marking the first win against a ranked opponent in school history. The Colonels won 12 straight games from January 31st to March 2nd, tying the program’s longest winning streak.

Evzen Hollis He boasted a record of 16 wins and 10 losses in singles from the top two spots in the lineup, and was selected to the All-ASUN first team.

EKU joins North Alabama, Northwestern, Pacific, Santa Carla, St. Louis, Tulsa foe Liberty and ASUN in the eight-team tournament field.
