Election 2024 Results Live Updates: Mallikarjun Kharge at CWC meeting
- Opening remarks by Indian National Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge at the expanded CWC meeting in New Delhi – “I would like to draw your attention to the fact that wherever the Pure India March has taken place, the Indian National Congress Party’s vote share and number of seats has increased.”
- At the expanded CWC meeting, the BJP leader said, “We won both seats in Manipur. We also won seats in Nagaland, Assam and Meghalaya. In Maharashtra, the BJP is the single largest party. People from all walks of life supported the BJP to protect our democracy and Constitution. We have also gained seats with a majority of SC, ST, OBC and minority voters, as well as seats in rural areas. We now need to make our presence felt in urban areas as well.”
- “While celebrating our comeback, we should take a moment to pause because in some states we have not lived up to our capabilities and expectations. Moreover, we have not been able to replicate our performance in states where we had previously performed well in the Vidhan Sabha elections and formed the government,” he said.
- “We will hold separate discussions with each of these states shortly. Urgent corrective measures have to be taken. These states have traditionally supported the Congress but there is an opportunity which we must utilise in the interest of the people, not for our own gain. I propose to hold these discussions soon,” he said.
- “We must remain disciplined and united. The public has placed a great deal of trust in us and we must build on that trust. We accept this verdict with all our heart and humility.”
- “I would be remiss in my duty if I did not acknowledge our partners in the Indian alliance, in which each party has played their role in various states and contributed to each other,” he said.
