HYDERABAD: Ten years after the formation of Telangana state, the political equation of the state has changed once again. Ten years ago, the BRS (then TRS) was at its peak, the Congress was at its nadir and the BJP was barely within the fold. This Lok Sabha election will not only decide the fate of these three parties but also has the potential to determine the future political direction of the state. The Congress, which came to power in the state after a decade, is looking to consolidate its position with the following policies: It won a majority of the state’s 17 LS seats. The grand old party has just four seats over a simple majority in the state assembly, and there are fears that the Congress government could be overthrown if it does not succeed in the state elections. The BJP is trying to emerge as the main opposition party by pushing the BRS to third place. The Bharatiya Janata Party, which performed best in the 2020 GHMC polls, is actively campaigning to win eight seats in the 2023 Assembly polls, increasing its parliamentary seats from the four it won in 2019. is being developed. The Bharatiya Janata Party is fully committed to the Telangana elections as per its wishes. The state is the second largest in the southern region after Karnataka. The BRS, which has been in power in the new state for nearly a decade, is trying to make a comeback in the Lok Sabha polls after losing to the Congress in the assembly elections five months ago. It hopes to win 12 seats, compared to the nine it won in the last general election. Prior to this, in 2014, parliamentary and LS elections were held simultaneously in the undivided state of Andhra Pradesh, but the announcement of the creation of a new Telangana state had already been made. The BRS (then TRS) won the assembly elections and also won 11 LS seats in Telangana, convincing the people that it had achieved statehood. The Congress won only two LS seats, while the BJP, TDP, YSRCP and AIMIM won one seat each. The new state was officially born on June 2, 2014. BRS won again in the 2018 parliamentary polls. However, in her LS polls in 2019, BRS only won her 9 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party, which lost over 100 seats in the 2018 assembly elections, and the Congress, which won only 19 seats, fared well in the 2019 LS polls, winning 4 and 3 seats respectively. I tried to make a comeback. Political insiders said the BRS is hoping to regain lost ground, just as the BJP and Congress did in the 2019 LS elections.
