The comedian’s room features a natural wood bench softened with textured beige cushions. Her farmhouse-style table is also made of wood, but with a completely different stain, creating a beautiful contrast. The light gray wall behind it serves as an accent throughout.

Why is the organic modern style so popular? One reason is the never-ending quest for interior design. “Homeowners are looking for sophisticated, yet natural spaces,” says Pam Hutter, principal architect at Chicago-based sustainable design firm Hutter Architects. “Organic modern is appealing because natural materials like wood, stone and reclaimed materials are timeless. My clients often request wooden accents, stone fireplaces and reclaimed wood flooring to bring warmth and character.”
