Earlier this year, Elon Musk quietly welcomed his 11th child, and his third child, with Sivon Gilliss, as Bloomberg reports. Gilliss is Neuralink’s director of operations and special projects. She already has twins with the tech billionaire, born in 2021. Musk has five children with his first wife, Justine Musk, three with Canadian musician Grimes, and three with Sivon Gilliss.
Musk and Gillis’ personal connection was not widely known until 2022, when they filed a petition to change the twins’ names and include Musk’s last name and Gillis’ last name as part of their middle names.
Musk biographer Walter Isaacson shared some insight into the pair’s relationship in September 2023. He posted a photo of Musk, Gillis and their twins, offering a glimpse into their family life. Isaacson depicted a scene at Gillis’ Austin home, where Musk was discussing the potential dangers of AI while the twins played nearby.
Mr. Gillis has been a key member of Mr. Musk’s workforce for several years, joining Neuralink, a company Mr. Musk co-founded that focuses on developing implantable brain-computer interfaces, in 2017. Prior to joining Neuralink, he worked at OpenAI, another effort Mr. Musk co-founded that aims to use artificial intelligence to benefit humanity.
Born in Markham, Ontario, Gillis attended Yale University, where she played goalie for the women’s ice hockey team and graduated with a degree in economics and philosophy. She began her career at IBM, then moved to Bloomberg Beta, and eventually took jobs at OpenAI and Neuralink.
Elon Musk’s concerns about population decline
Elon Musk has been vocal about his concerns regarding the global population shortage. He believes having more children is important to the future of civilization. Musk has stated that people with higher IQs should have more children to combat this crisis.
