England won by 34 points.Won the series 3-0
Danny Wyatt’s combative 87 sealed a 34-run victory at Headingley as England cruised to a 3-0 victory in the T20 series against Pakistan.
Opening batsman Wyatt took advantage of sloppy fielding (she was dropped for 12, 79 and 81) and scored most of England’s 176 runs.
Wyatt hit 45 off the last 16 balls and England were aiming for a higher total at this stage, but her dismissal was the first of eight wickets lost for 58 runs, with the hosts just 20 He was sent off for an over.
The score was England’s highest in the series and proved that despite the tourists’ strong start, they were still far ahead of Pakistan.
Pakistan consistently trailed in scoring as they reached 60-0, with Sophie Ecclestone dismissing Sidra Ameen at 26th in nine overs before fellow opener Gul Feroza hit 30 in the next over. I was caught in
Captain Nida Dar and Aliya Riaz shared an unbroken stand of 69, Pakistan’s highest score in a T20 against England, to drag out the match, but Pakistan finished far short at 142-4. .
Next up is a three-match one-day international series between the two teams, starting with a derby on Thursday.
Wyatt shines in sunny Headingley
Although the series has been one-sided, there remain both positives and negatives for England ahead of the World Cup in the autumn.
Wyatt was again a key player for Bangladesh, scoring 1 and 6 in the first two matches of the series before displaying his familiar flicks of the wrist, sweeps to leg and drives through covers in 48 balls. .
Wiatt was dropped by wicketkeeper Muneeb Ali and dived low to his right past first-slip off-seamer Diana Baig and accelerated with spinner Dar bowling and taking 20 runs from 11 overs. This included 3 of 12 fours and a high six over long. .
Wyatt was dropped twice more, an easy chance at mid-off and a more difficult chance to dive forward at deep extra cover, but was eventually snatched by Sadaf Shamas in a repetition of the latter.
However, against stronger opposition, England may have been punished for the lack of other contributors.
Wyatt’s opening partner Maia Bouchier missed her second straight game – she went straight to the point and then went for a single – while Nat Cyber Brandt and captain Heather Knight had some rare misses as well. However, they chipped in after scoring eight and 12 points, respectively. A tame catch.
Alice Capsey was sent off for one, Daniel Gibson was caught at short fine leg and was dismissed for a no-ball on 13, but he was sent off for one.
Amy Jones, named Player of the Series for her run and glove handling, tied Wyatt as the only batters to score more than 20 points with 26.
pakistan digs back
It’s difficult to draw too many conclusions from England’s performance with the ball, given the flatness of the pitch and the way Pakistan’s batsmen dug in.
The hosts perhaps slightly lacked the wicket-taking threat.
Lauren Bell, chosen as England’s seamer after taking five wickets in the last two matches, was rested and Lauren Filer bowled quickly in his absence, but Charlie Dean shared the new ball and 46 over 46. It cost a run and cost.
Despite batting patiently, both Ameen and Feroza fell for the sweep. After Ameen was caught in front by an unusually quiet Ecclestone, Feroza was caught off Dean’s top edge.
Wyatt’s impressive day continued when he caught Muneeb Ali diving smartly to his left at the backward point off Gibson. Four wickets fell in 17 balls when Sadaf Shamas top-edged Filer, but Dar and Riaz prevented further collapse.
Although there was little purpose to be seen in their partnership, Pakistan’s total was also the best of the series, at least encouraging them for the upcoming 50-over match.
“We are tracking well” – their words
England captain Heather Knight: “Looking at Danny’s batting, I definitely expected her to score, so I’m really happy for her.
“There are some things we can improve on, but we had most everyone perform in this series.
“Pakistan put us under pressure with the bat, which was good to see. But we kept our composure, got the momentum back and put pressure on them, so I was really happy with our response. There is.”
About Lauren Filer’s performance: “She’s a point of difference for us. She’s fast, she hits the pitch hard, and I’m really happy for her because she’s been working hard behind the scenes.”
About T20 World Cup preparations: “We’re doing well. There’s always something we can do better, but we’re moving forward as a team. There are some things we can adjust, but a lot of people are performing and even people who aren’t on the team are pushing.”
Pakistan captain Nida Dar: “We lost the catch at a crucial time and it cost us. I have to take it as a positive. I want to change the momentum in the ODIs.”
