DUNKIRK — Miley Zaranek, Nyla Sharp and Chloe Livengood had double appearances as Falconer defeated Dunkirk 13-0 in Chautauqua-Cataraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West softball Wednesday.

For the Golden Falcons, Angelina Fiasco had 2 hits in 3 at bats and scored 2 runs. Hannah Melquist and Miley Zaranek combined for four hits inside the circle.

Sirakowski sets record

SALAMANCA — Ariana Sirakowski had a historic performance for the Southwestern softball team Wednesday, fanning 17 Salamanca batters and striking out a single game en route to a two-hit, 12-0 nonleague victory over the Warriors. A record was set.

Sirakowski set a record by pitching a no-hitter through the sixth inning while only walking one batter.

Not that it was necessary, but Silakowski received plenty of run support from his teammates at Southwestern (4-8, 2-7).

Maddie Barnett led the offense with a grand slam, Shiri Dubois went 2-for-3 with a home run, Jadyn Newhouse had two runs, Eliana Barone had a double and Lexi Beckerinck finished 2-for-5. Ta.

Mackenzie Crouse broke the no-hitter for the Warriors with a double in the sixth inning, and Courtney DeBoy added a single in the seventh.

WESTFIELD — Senior Tanley Bestin hit a home run, junior Eva Gnazynski had her 100th career hit on Senior Day and Westfield defeated Cassadaga Valley 17-1 in Division II West play.

Bestin took the lead with a solo homer over the left-field fence in the bottom of the first inning, and Gnazynski followed with a homer of his own. The Wolverines (12-3, 9-1) got him four points in the first inning and never looked back.

Gnazynski was 3-for-3 with a hit in his second at-bat of the day, reaching the century mark. She had a home run, a double, three RBIs, and two RBIs. Bestin went 3-for-3 with three hits, three RBIs, and four runs scored. Keala Kincaid was 2-for-3 with three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. Drew Arnewane was 2-for-2 with two hits and two RBIs. Sydney Hotchkiss went 2-for-4 with two hits, two RBIs, and one run scored. Charlie Matthews then doubled, drove in two runs, and scored one point.

Bestin allowed three hits and struck out five over five innings.

Emily Anderson, Anna Burlingame and Chloe Lundberg had singles for the Cougars (3-11, 1-8).

Cards survive Hornets rally

FORESTVILLE — Quinn Pence hit the winning hit on an errant pitch in the top of the ninth inning, leading Randolph to a 7-6 Division 1 East victory over Forestville.

The Cardinals (6-5, 5-3) entered the bottom of the seventh inning with a 6-0 lead, and winning pitcher Aliza Hind led the attack with four hits, including a double. Ryan Bushey (double) and Donilyn Sheldon each had two hits.

Hinds had eight strikeouts and three walks in the circle, but the Hornets (5-6, 2-6) tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning with a six-run rally, led by Jenna Emerson’s two runs and Emily Lilly’s 2 points double.

Lilly, Emerson and Aspen VanArsdale all had two hits, supporting pitcher Megan Gruber, who had 11 strikeouts and three walks.

FREESBURG — Chautauqua Lake led just 1-0 through the fifth inning, but scored four runs in the final three innings to defeat Frewsburg 5-1 in Division 2 West play.

Kaysley Johnson pitched well for the Eagles (12-1, 10-0) with four hits, 11 strikeouts, and two walks.

Lucy Gates had three hits. Johnson had two hits, including a double. Jillian Miller had two hits. And Alice Scarpine and Eden Ludwig added singles for Chautauqua Lake.

The Bears scored in the fifth inning with a single by Ava Reale and an RBI double by Tegan Trocchi, the Bears’ only runs. Addison Hultberg and Skylar Wade each added a single.

Trocchi and Teagan Nazario combined for six strikeouts and three walks to lead Frewsburg (6-8, 3-8).
