TAUNSA SHARIF:

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman asserted on Saturday that his fight against “oppression and tyranny” would continue, saying that rebellion against slavery was his party’s defining characteristic.

In an address at the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Conference held by the JUI-F in Taunsa Sharif, the cleric-politician declared a revolt against oppression, slavery and exploitation.

The conference, attended by a large crowd, was decorated with party flags and welcoming banners.

Addressing the gathering, he alleged that the ruling elite was exploiting the poverty of the people for their own benefit.

He further said freedom “cannot be begged from other countries as our struggles are all too similar”.

“Those in power are taking advantage of our poverty, mistaking it for weakness,” he added, pointing to the unjust practices of the ruling class and landlords.

Regarding the 26th Amendment, he said that it contained 56 points. He highlighted the crucial inclusion of clauses aimed at eliminating interest (usury) from Pakistan’s financial system.

“From January 1, 2028, interest will be completely eradicated from Pakistan. If any harm comes to this amendment, it will be considered as support for the usurious system,” he said.

He also lamented the continuous persecution faced by Muslims globally, saying that they were being unjustly labelled as terrorists, adding that the actual perpetrators of violence were the ones who spread chaos across the world.

The Maulana condemned the ongoing violence against Muslims in various parts of the world, especially in regions like Gaza, Afghanistan, Syria and Lebanon, which he described as “burning in the fire of war,” largely due to international conspiracies.

“Who is setting fire to the Muslim world? America and Europe are the killers of humanity.”

He further expressed his belief in the divine nature of the Torah and the Bible, affirming that they are books of God alongside the Quran.

He also pointed out that while some still advise submission to the West and America, “we will not bow before the rising sun”.

He strongly criticised Israel’s brutal actions in Palestine, saying, “The Palestinians have not bowed their heads but have sacrificed their lives”.

Fazl also condemned the involvement of both American and European powers in the suffering of Muslims, stressing that they have no right to global leadership.

He urged Muslim rulers to take responsibility for their role in the ongoing oppression of Palestinians, declaring that they were equally complicit in the injustice.
