Fans of the thriving Fever-Sky WNBA rivalry won’t have to wait long for their next rematch. Just one week after the Fever defeated the Sky in a commanding 91-83 victory, the teams will meet again on Sunday afternoon, this time in Chicago.

In last week’s game, Caitlin Clark scored 23 points on 7-of-11 field goal attempts, along with 8 rebounds and 9 assists. She was also involved in one of the game’s most talked-about moments, when Angel Reese committed a flagrant foul by hitting Clark in the head while driving to the basket. Reese said after the game that it was a “basketball play,” and Clark agreed.

Both the Fever and Sky rookies have been making a big impact this WNBA season, with both finishing in the top 10 in fan voting for the first WNBA All-Star Game (Clark finished second and Reese seventh). On Wednesday, Reese recorded her seventh consecutive double-double in a win over the Wings, extending her WNBA record.

  • Chennedy Carter went down hard under the basket after being fouled by Nalyssa Smith but appeared to be OK. She made one free throw but missed the second.

  • Clark and Boston were a magic duo for the Fever today. The rookie gives Boston another assist and Boston goes for a layup. Clark now has 8 assists and Boston has 10, most of which come from Clark’s assists.

  • The Sky are now tied with the Fever at 52-46, their largest lead of the game, and Indiana takes a timeout to reset.

  • Cardozo gets a monster layup (and-one) early in the first half. Just like the first half, the game remains tense, but Chicago has the upper hand…for now.

    Kelsey Mitchell still led the Fever in scoring with 10 points, while Caitlin Clark had eight points and seven assists in the first half.

    Chennedi Carter had 15 points and Angel Reese had 8 points and 8 rebounds for the Sky. Reese and Clark are definitely looking to get double-doubles tonight (Reese with rebounds and Clark with assists).

    Another double-double for Reese would extend her streak. On Thursday, she became the only rookie with a double-double in seven consecutive games, and if she gets another today, it would be eight in a row.

  • Indiana rallied enough to take the lead again after missing eight straight shots, but the Sky came right back from behind. This game has been incredibly close, with seven ties and eight lead changes so far, with more likely to come.

  • After a minute without any scoring from either team, Camila Cardozo gave Chicago the lead again with a big layup.

  • Chicago’s Lindsay Allen tied the game again at 39-39 with about four minutes left in the quarter with a wild running layup off a nice assist from Marina Mabry.

  • Boston is finally starting to score, scoring three straight points off Clarke’s assists. The rookie-sophomore duo has only gotten stronger over the course of the season, working together more frequently and creatively.

  • Narissa Smith pump-fakeed Diamond DeShields to the floor for a big layup, assisted by a Clark hook shot.

  • Diamond DeShields has done a good job containing Kaitlyn Clark since coming off the bench. DeShields had a strong block on Clark in the first quarter and has prevented Clark from taking a shot so far in the second quarter.

  • The game has been fast-paced so far, with the lead changing hands six times in the first quarter alone. The Fever have had more luck on the outside than the Sky, but Chicago led 28-26 at the end of the quarter behind Chennedy Carter’s 11 points. Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana with 10 points.

  • Camila Cardozo also now has two fouls after blocking former University of South Carolina teammate Aaliyah Boston, who missed both of her free throws and is currently at zero points.

  • Chicago’s Marina Mabry already had two fouls midway through the first quarter, and getting into early foul trouble would be a big blow to the Sky as she is averaging 15.1 points per game this season.

  • Caitlin Clark had previously avoided saying whether the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky would have a rivalry, but was asked the question again in an interview with ESPN.

    “You guys are going to ask the hard questions while I prepare,” Clark said with a smile.

    She acknowledged that this could be a start, but said it’s not her top priority. “Hopefully our team can perform at their best is what we’re focused on right now,” she said.

  • For today’s game, Angel Reese is wearing custom Reeboks in honor of Juneteenth.

    Before the game, Reese told ESPN that representation was important and praised other Black female players in the league. “To be able to represent (Juneteenth) today is so important,” she said.
