islamabad [Pakistan]October 31 (ANI): The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a fresh FIR in the extra-judicial killing of Dr Shahnawaz Kumbar following orders from the Sindh High Court (SHC), reports ARY News. It was reported on Wednesday.
A copy of the FIR was also submitted to the anti-terrorism court in Mirpur Khas.
Among the 46 people accused in the case are former DIG police Mirpur Khas, Javed Sunharo Zisqani, former SSPs Asad Chaudhry and Asif Raza Baloch, former CIA chief Enayat Zardari, former SHO Niaz Khoso and Pir Umar Jan Sarkhandi are reportedly included. ARY News.
They are facing charges related to the extrajudicial killing of Dr Kumbar.
A medical board headed by the Superintendent of Police has completed the autopsy of Dr Kumbhar’s body.
After the autopsy, Chief Police Surgeon Dr Wasim said, “The body samples will be sent for clinical examination and the report will be handed over to the concerned authorities within a month.”
According to a report in ARY, Dr Shahnawaz Kumbhar, who was a senior medical officer, was arrested by the Umerkot police in Karachi on September 18, 2024, and later had an arranged encounter with police in Mirpur Khas on September 19, 2024. He was reportedly charged with blasphemy and killed in the clash. news.
According to a report in ARY News, the commission of inquiry investigated the Umerkot incident and revealed serious irregularities by the police authorities following the instructions of Sindh Police Chief Ghulam Nabi Memon.

The SHC has ordered all the accused persons to be placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) in connection with Dr Kumbhar’s death, which is suspected to have been caused by a fake police encounter.
Cases have so far been registered against 45 people, including senior police officials, and the commission of inquiry has confirmed that the police encounter was fabricated to legitimize extrajudicial killings. (Ani)
