RAWALPINDI:

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has awarded departmental punishments to seven officers and officials for corruption, abuse of authority, and negligence. The penalties were announced by FIA Director General Riffat Mukhtar Raja after personal hearings held in an orderly room.

As part of the disciplinary action, three officers and officials were dismissed from service, while four others were awarded penalties, including forfeiture of service and stoppage of promotion.

According to officials, an orderly room was convened under the chairmanship of FIA DG Raja, during which cases against officers and officials involved in corruption, misuse of authority, and negligence were heard, and orders for departmental action were issued. In total, seven officers and officials were punished.

Inspector Fakhar Abbas and Constable Ghulam Mustafa were dismissed from service on charges of conducting illegal raid operations and extortion, while ASI Ahsan Muskeen was removed from service for allegedly taking money from a passenger at Sialkot Airport.

Meanwhile, Inspector Fahad Iqbal, posted at New Islamabad International Airport, was awarded a two-year promotion ban for illegal immigration clearance. Sub-Inspector Kiran Fareed received a one-year promotion ban for a similar offence, while Sub-Inspector Waseem Ubaid, posted at Sialkot Airport, was awarded a two-year promotion ban for illegal immigration clearance.

Similarly, Sub-Inspector Tanzil Rasool was demoted to the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and awarded a two-year demotion penalty for illegal immigration clearance at Karachi Airport.

Speaking on the occasion, the FIA DG said the purpose of departmental accountability is to ensure strict adherence to legal and professional standards. He stated that corruption or misuse of authority would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
