SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — USA Today has named Fiesta Island at Mission Bay Park the “Best Dog Park” in the country.
According to a press release sent on behalf of Fiesta Island Dog Owners, the approximately 500-acre island features natural scenery and recreational facilities.
The park also features a 90-acre fenced dog park with open space, a sandy beach and water areas where dogs can play off-leash with their owners.
“We are thrilled and honored that Fiesta Island has received a second recognition from USA Today,” FIDO Board Member Cathy Parrish said in a statement. “This is a wonderful recognition of the hard work and passion that community members and volunteers have put into making this park a true haven for dogs and their owners. This honor will only serve as further encouragement for us to continue our efforts to maintain and improve this cherished place.”
According to a press release, FIDO, a nonprofit organization with more than 16,000 members, played a key role in getting the community involved in the dog park.
