A week after the results of the by-polls to the five constituencies along with the Lok Sabha elections were announced, the newly elected state legislators were sworn in. The five legislators from the ruling BJP were sworn in in strict secrecy by Gujarat Congress Speaker Shankar Chaudhary in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Rushikesh Patel.
Arjun Modhwadia (Porbandar), CJ Chavda (Vijapur), Arvind Radhani (Manavadal), Chirag Patel (Kambat) and Dharmendra Vaghela (Wagodia) were re-elected after resignations from their constituencies necessitating by-polls.

All four – Modhwadia, Chavda, Radhani and Patel – had left the Bharatiya Janata Party before joining it ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Vaghela ran as an independent from Waghodiya in the 2022 state elections but has rejoined the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the national elections.
According to an official statement, the five were sworn in at the Speaker’s Chambers. The Chief Minister, Rushikesh Patel and members of the state cabinet were also present to congratulate the newly elected assembly members.
After the by-elections, the BJP’s number of seats in the 182-seat Gujarat Assembly jumped to 161, while the BJP’s number of seats dropped to 13. With the election of BJP MP Geniben Thakor to the Lower House of the Rajya Sabha, that number is expected to drop further to 12.
The AAP has four MLAs while two are independents. The Samajwadi Party has one MLA. One seat in Visavadal fell vacant following the resignation of AAP MLA Bhupendra Bhayani. By-elections to Visavadal could not be held due to an election litigation pending in the Gujarat High Court.
