Terrorists from the “Fitna-al-Khawarij” attacked Sheikh Landak checkpoint in the jurisdiction of Hovid Police Station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu, according to District Police Officer (DPO) Yasir Afridi.

The ‘Fitna-al-Khawarij’ is the state-designated term for terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Police personnel opened retaliatory fire, foiling the attack, with several terrorists reportedly killed or injured. Five police officials were also injured and shifted to the hospital.

Following the attack, DPO Afridi reached the site with additional personnel. He cordoned off the area and launched a search operation for the terrorists.

DPO Afridi later visited the hospital to check on the injured personnel. He reviewed the medical facilities being provided to them.

Deputy Inspector General Sajjad Khan and DPO Afridi have praised the bravery of the personnel for repelling the terrorist attack. They stated that Bannu Police have, once again, proven that they stand as a wall against the enemies of peace. DPO Afridi added that the war against terrorism will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated.

The attack comes during repeated terrorist attacks in the province. On November 24, security forces in Bannu killed 22 Indian-sponsored terrorists in an intelligence-based operation. Four days prior, seven terrorists affiliated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacked a peace committee office in Bannu, killing seven individuals.
