LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The 2024 F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix will take the streets of Las Vegas by storm in less than four weeks.

Construction is underway in and around the Strip, and some of the changes include a bridge at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane.

In 2023, the area around the bridge was largely deserted, drivers had difficulty accessing nearby businesses, and traffic was heavy.

However, business owners say the situation appears to have improved considerably this year.

“Traffic congestion was already a headache, but on top of that, construction work restricted traffic even more, which was miserable. This year it wasn’t as bad, but we were still affected by access restrictions. ” said Hoshan Raj, an employee at Las Vegas Souvenirs and Gifts.

The store happened to be located right next to a Formula 1 racetrack, which caused major traffic disruption when construction resumed in 2023, with nearby business owners claiming they lost millions of dollars. did.

“I don’t know how we’re going to recover. We just have to think about the next day or the next time we can make decent sales,” Raj said.

Raj was anxious this year, not knowing what the impact of construction would be.

“We were concerned about how long the construction process would take,” Raj said.

But now F1 organizers have made adjustments and built bridges in only one direction of traffic. People who work nearby say the construction still causes inconvenience, but it’s not as bad as before.

“That means they’re willing to listen, so they’re willing to compromise. It’s not that they’re not going to listen to us, they’re going to do what they did last time and cause another disaster,” Raj said. said.
