TEHRAN – Iran’s foreign trade grew significantly under the administration of late President Ibrahim Raisi during his 32 months in office, reaching more than $301 billion, the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) said in a statement.
According to the report, between August 2021 and April 22, 2024, about 347 million tonnes of goods were exported from the country, totalling over $137.8 billion, an increase of 17.19 percent and 1.5 percent in value and weight, respectively, compared to the same period under the previous administration.
The report further stated that $48 billion worth of manufactured goods were exported from the country in 2021, marking a 40 percent increase from the previous year.
The report noted that more than $53 billion worth of products were imported into the country in 2021, marking a 36% increase from the previous year.
IRICA forecasts non-oil exports at $53 billion in 2022, representing an increase of about 10 percent from the previous year.
The country is expected to import $59 billion worth of manufactured goods in 2022, marking a 13% increase from the previous year.
According to the report, Iran exported approximately $87 billion worth of products, including oil, electricity, and technical and engineering services, last year (up to March 19, 2024), marking a 58% increase from the previous year.
According to IRICA data, Iran’s foreign trade volume (total imports and exports) recorded a 47.63 percent increase in the first month of the current Iranian calendar year (March 19-April 22, 2024).
The country’s foreign trade, including crude oil, gas condensate, technical engineering services and electricity, reached $10.42 billion between March 19 and April 22, 2024, marking a growth of 47.63 percent over the same period last year.
During the period, Iran exported $7.68 billion worth of manufactured goods and imported $2.74 billion worth of goods, according to IRICA data.
Iran’s trade balance, including crude oil, gas condensate, technical engineering services and electricity, turned into a surplus of $4.94 billion in the first month of the Iranian year.
According to reports, Iran exported $4.18 billion worth of crude oil, gas condensate, and fuel oil between March 19 and April 22, 2024.
Around 9.7 million tonnes of goods were exported from the country during the month.
A helicopter carrying President Raisi and his entourage crashed in a forest in the northwestern mountains on May 19.
The crash killed President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdullahian, Friday prayer leader of Tabriz Ayatollah Mohammed Ali al-Hashem, East Azerbaijan province governor Malek Rahmati, the commander of the Presidential Guard, two pilots and one crew member.
