India and Pakistan have not played any kind of bilateral series for over a decade. With both teams only meeting in ICC and ACC events, the India vs Pakistan match is arguably the most anticipated showdown in global cricket. India and Pakistan will meet on June 9 next month in a group match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Ahead of the highly anticipated match, former Pakistan batsman Basit Ali has made a big claim that the ICC wants India and Pakistan to meet twice in the tournament. Basit said on his YouTube channel that the ICC is working on scheduling so that India and Pakistan can meet once more in the semi-finals or finals in addition to the match in New York on June 9.
“ICC wants India and Pakistan to play two matches in the World Cup. The schedule has been arranged so that both the teams can meet again in the semi-final or final. The venue will be known in due course. Now, it all depends on performance. Pakistan are in a bit of a bad run of form but India are playing the IPL and are looking good. For Pakistan to perform well, Babar has to bat first,” Basit said in a video on his YouTube channel.
India and Pakistan are in Group A along with Ireland, Canada and the USA, who are co-hosting the T20 World Cup.
India will kick off their campaign against Ireland on June 5, while Pakistan will play their opening match against the United States the following day.
