Pharoah Cooper finished it.

The 29-year-old Cooper announced his retirement in a Twitter/X post on Monday afternoon. The Havelock, North Carolina native spent seven seasons as a professional, including one with the Carolina Panthers.

Goodbye Football. I am officially retiring from the NFL. I am forever grateful and give all the glory to God for allowing me to fulfill my childhood dream. Thank you for all the love and support I have received from my family, friends and fans throughout my career. Much love. pic.twitter.com/GLqlF6J9X9

That lone season came in 2020, when Cooper served as the team’s primary kick and punt returner under first-year head coach Matt Lue, as he recorded 18 kick returns for 430 yards (23.9 yards per attempt) and 20 punt returns for 117 yards (5.9 yards per attempt).

The Gamecock, a University of South Carolina product, entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2016 NFL Draft. In his second season with Los Angeles, he averaged a league-best 27.9 yards on kickoff returns and was named to the first team All-Pro and to the Pro Bowl, the first and only time he has been selected to that honor in his career.

Cooper also played for the Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants.
