PESHAWAR:

At least four police personnel and three civilians were injured when an explosive device targeted a mobile police vehicle in Peshawar on Thursday, senior police officials confirmed.

According to Peshawar’s Chief City Police Officer Dr Saeed Ahmad, the police vehicle was on a routine patrol when the blast occurred. “The explosion took place suddenly, injuring four of our personnel. They were immediately transferred to a nearby hospital for medical treatment,” he said.

Initial reports identified the injured officers as ASI Shah Faisal, Constable Sajjad, Noorullah, and driver Zia. Police and security forces quickly reached the site following the explosion, cordoning off the area to collect evidence.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the perpetrators behind the attack and are urging the public to remain vigilant.

In May, two policemen lost their lives and two others along with a passer-by sustained injuries when a suicide bomber blew himself up near a police van at Ring Road Mall Mandi, Peshawar.

The suicide bomber targeted the police mobile van patrolling near the Mall Mandi. As a result of the explosion, two policemen, including Sub-Inspector Laiq Zada Khan and Constanle Alamzaib lost their lives.

Rescue workers immediately shifted the bodies and the injured to the hospital. Police said that the martyred and injured officials were inside the mobile van when they were targeted.

The blast caused a severe damage to the vehicle and the echo of the blast was heard at faraway places, sending the waves of shock in the surrounding areas.
