The 2024 French Open men’s singles tournament began on Sunday with NBC Sports peacockis probably the most open market in the last 20 years.
Rafael Nadal, who has won the French Open a record 14 times since 2005, may play at Roland Garros for the last time.
The 37-year-old Nadal is unseeded after missing most of the past 18 months with injury and will face fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev of Germany, a gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, in the first round.
Nadal has played a total of 15 matches since the start of 2023 and has a record of 5 wins and 3 losses in his three clay-court tournaments this spring heading into the French Open.

Novak Djokovic is in danger of losing his No. 1 seed if he wins the French Open in Nadal’s absence in 2023. The 37-year-old Serb is the most decorated men’s Grand Slam singles champion with 24 titles but is yet to reach a final this year.
If Djokovic and Nadal make it that far, they will meet in the semifinals.
No. 2 seed Jannik Sinner of Italy and No. 3 seed Carlos Alcaraz of Spain each won a Grand Slam title last year, but both missed the spring with injuries.
The top American players are 12th seed Taylor Fritz, 14th seed Tommy Paul and 15th seed Ben Shelton.
No American man has reached the quarterfinals of the French Open singles title since Andre Agassi in 2003.
