From Bansuri Swaraj to Manoj Tiwari, all about candidates, seats and more – Firstpost

India will go to polls for the sixth phase on Saturday, May 25. The voter turnout for the first five phases of the 2024 Indian Lok Sabha elections was 66.14%, 66.71%, 65.68%, 69.16% and 62.2% respectively.

The sixth phase of elections will be held in 58 constituencies across eight states and Union Territories (UTs). 102 constituencies were voted for in the first phase, 88 in the second, 94 in the third, 96 in the fourth and 49 in the fifth. Polling began at 7 am and will continue till 5 pm. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.

With just one day left in the first phase of the election, here is a state-by-state breakdown that will answer all your polling questions.

Bihar

Number of seats: 40

Number of seats up for vote: 8

Key candidates in contention: Janardhan Singh Sigriwal from Maharajganj (BJP), Janardhan Singh Sigriwal from Gopalganj (J.D.U.), Madan Mohan Tiwari from Paschim Champaran (meeting)

Notable current Diet members: Ashwini Kumar Choubey (BJP), Pashupati Kumar Paras (Lok Janashakti Party – Ram Vilas), Chirag Paswan (LJP)

Haryana

Number of seats: Ten

Number of seats up for vote: Ten

Key candidates in contention: Raj Babbar from Gurgaon (meeting), Manohar Lal Khattar from Karnal (BJP), Deepender Singh Hooda from Rohtak (meeting), Sushil Kumar Gupta of Kurukshetra (Australian Airlines), Inderjit Singh Rao from Gurgaon (BJP)
