Invented by Athlon Sports 13 Bold Predictions for College Football RealignmentOne of the boldest was for FSU, Clemson, Georgia Tech and Miami to leave the ACC and join the Big Ten.

“After Florida State and Clemson received clear results in their lawsuits against the ACC, the Big Ten moved quickly to add the two programs to the conference,” the projection states. “But that’s not all: the conference is also encouraging Georgia Tech and Miami to move to a 22-team league.”

The University of Miami and Georgia Tech are AAU accredited. Prerequisites for joining B1GUnfortunately, the value of these athletic programs does not compare to the programs at FSU and Clemson.

FSU and Clemson likely won’t make a lateral move to the Big 12 if they leave the ACC, and there’s no chance they’ll fall back in their next realignment destination.

That leaves the Noles and Tigers’ only realistic options in the Big Ten and the SEC, which may not be interested in FSU and Clemson because Florida and South Carolina are already in their TV markets, according to college football insider Brett McMurphy.

“North Carolina Schools, Virginia Schools.” Mr. McMurphy The Paul Finebaum Show“The SEC will definitely be interested. They’ve already got Florida and South Carolina, so I don’t think they’re interested in Florida State or Clemson.”

That means the B1G needs to be where FSU and Clemson make their way, and the Big Ten needs to ignore AAU recognition rules to facilitate that, just like it has done with Nebraska since the Cornhuskers lost their AAU eligibility.

The revenue that awaits the B1G in the Deep South will likely offset the discomfort of breaking these rules.
