Gandapur slams critics over Senate ticket row

PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has lashed out at detractors within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing them of spreading “shameless” criticism over the distribution of Senate election tickets and warning that the party is slipping into chaos.

Speaking at a meeting in Peshawar, Gandapur said he had no role in awarding Senate tickets but was unfairly targeted. “A drama was staged during the Senate elections, and I was criticised, whereas we only follow [PTI founder Imran] Khan’s instructions because this party belongs to him,” he remarked.

He alleged that certain individuals were deliberately blocking his meetings with Khan to weaken his influence. “Blocking my meeting with Khan is damaging the party and creating divisions, even though Khan wants unity,” he said, adding that those obstructing contact with Khan were “not friends but enemies” of the party.

Referring to the Senate ticket controversy, Gandapur noted that when Khan’s list of candidates was released, many dismissed it as fake. “Later, when Imran Khan himself confirmed the names, none of the critics apologised. “No person said, ‘I was wrong.’ That is shamelessness – to remain silent and refuse to admit fault,” he said.
