Pakistan had a dismal performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The 2022 finalists lost to hosts USA in the opening match and then to arch rivals India in the following game, crashing out in the group stage.
To rub salt into the wound, India won the T20 World Cup in Barbados and remained unbeaten throughout the tournament.

Pakistan fans, media and pundits have been hugely disappointed with the team’s performance in the past few days with some legendary players, including greats like Wasim Akram and Shoaib Malik, accusing the board of incompetent decision-making.
Faced with such a tough situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a new selection committee with some major changes.

Why were Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzak removed from the selection committee?
One of the major changes in the new committee is the removal of Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzak, who were recently appointed as members of both the male and female selection committees, but will no longer hold either position.
Meanwhile, Wahab’s removal from the committee was imminent. He was already stripped of his post as chief selector. The decision came after PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi decided to remove him from the post.
Wahab, who has been made a scapegoat by many for the debacle, has issued his own statement, allegedly influencing the selection process and naming him as responsible for Pakistan’s tragedy.

Razzaq echoed Riaz’s comments and denied that the committee members were taking the decision alone.
