Best Buy’s Geek Squad will celebrate a monumental milestone on June 16, 2024. We are celebrating 30 years of incredible dedication and hard work from our agents who work every day to serve customers across the country with experience and expertise that no one can match.
What began as a small computer repair service in Minneapolis in 1994 has grown into a household name known nationwide for our unmatched knowledge and unwavering dedication to helping our customers with their technology.
“We’re incredibly proud of the great work and tireless efforts of our Geek Squad agents over the past three decades,” said David Nygaard, president of Home and Enterprise Services at Best Buy. “Our agents are central to Best Buy’s belief and ability to help customers unlock a world of endless possibilities with technology. We’re excited to celebrate this landmark anniversary and look forward to an even brighter future.”
Not only do we help customers with everything from computer repairs and home theater installations to complex tech troubleshooting, we’re also working to expand Geek Squad’s capabilities to help grow the company and propel it forward into the future.

Geek Squad Present and Future
In addition to the important role that agents play in serving customers in-store and through Geek Squad City, there are several other ways they leverage the power of Geek Squad to deliver a world-class experience.
Best Buy Health Geek Squad
Best Buy Health’s goal is to make care available to everyone in their own home, and Geek Squad has played a pivotal role in making this happen. In 2023, we announced a partnership with Geisinger, a top Pennsylvania-based healthcare system, which will leverage specially trained agents to provide higher-quality in-home care. The initiative focuses on supporting patients with chronic conditions such as congestive heart failure, chronic pulmonary disease, and hypertension. So far, we have seen great success in our partnership with Geisinger. Geek Squad is expanding our offerings in the healthcare space by forging new relationships with additional healthcare systems, enabling more people to receive care in their own homes.
Best Buy Business
Technology is business critical, and Geek Squad knows it better than anyone. We use this knowledge, unmatched expertise, and nationwide reach to provide customized technology and A/V solutions for businesses, tailoring each setup to your specific needs. Our agents also pre-configure and test all devices to ensure they’re working properly, and provide 24/7 technical support after the project is complete. The program has been a huge success and continues to expand. Past projects have ranged from installing hundreds of TVs in professional baseball stadiums to partnering with city leaders to install thousands of air conditioners for free for low-income seniors.
Geek Squad Services
As our capabilities expand, we are able to provide more Geek Squad support to other businesses, especially when it comes to device lifecycle management. With Geek Squad as a Service, we are exploring how we can provide businesses with all of their employees’ technology devices, from mobile phones to laptops, and provide end-to-end support to set them up and configure them based on the employee’s needs.
Cheers to Geek Squad and especially to our agents and clients who have helped us achieve 30 years of incredible success!
