Will Okogie pick up his player option with the Suns?
Another interesting case is that perhaps no Suns player has seen his stock drop as much. Josh Okogie Last season, Okogie started in the season opener but played fewer than five minutes in two of the team’s four losses to the Minnesota Timberwolves before the team was wiped out in the playoffs.
But there’s some hope that Okogie can actually contribute, since he played 14 minutes in the final game of that series loss, evidence that with former head coach Frank Vogel’s job essentially on the line, he at least considered turning to Okogie to see if his defensive abilities could help. Whether he couldn’t or not is another story.
This is one of those situations where Okogie would come back because he really has a chance to get a better contract after performing well in the summer of 2025. He’s only 25 years old and the Suns’ cap sheet situation could be different in a year’s time, putting the Suns in a position to bring Okogie back for the right amount if they so desire.

Pelicans need to make a decision regarding Jose Alvarado
The Pelicans have a team option. Jose Alvarado It’s effectively worthless. If they reject it, he becomes a restricted free agent and must immediately be paid a higher salary. If they accept it, he’s cheap this offseason but an unrestricted free agent next offseason. Last summer, the Pelicans took advantage of a quirk in this CBA, making Herb Jones a restricted free agent and then paying him a lower salary by threatening to match an offer sheet to scare off other buyers. This avenue is available for Alvarado, but it’s unclear whether the Pelicans would take it.
