Georgia Tech student-athletes posted a 3.25 grade point average to highlight an outstanding academic semester at the Flats. This is an all-time high in Polytechnic athletics history.
The average GPA recorded by Tech’s 412 student-athletes during the recently completed spring 2024 semester was 3.25, exceeding the average GPA of 3.23 recorded by student-athletes during the spring 2020 semester, which was interrupted by the coronavirus. This GPA record follows the Yellow Jackets’ 3.14 GPA during the fall 2023 semester, which was the second-highest GPA on record for a Tech student-athlete at the time.
Four Tech teams set program records for team GPAs during the spring semester. football (3.02), women’s basketball (3.07), softball (3.44) and women’s cross country/track and field (3.47).
In addition, Tech has the highest percentage of student-athletes who earned a 3.0 GPA or higher (68%), the highest GPA for first-year student-athletes (3.27), and the highest GPA ever for male-athlete student-athletes (3.16). According to the latest data, Georgia Tech Athletics recorded an NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 92%, setting a new record for the third year in a row. Before 2021, Georgia Tech had never achieved a GSR above 90% of his, and before 2016, Georgia Tech had never achieved a GSR above 85% of her. Georgia Tech’s 92% GSR also exceeds the national average of 90%, with 10 of the Yellow Jackets’ 13 teams (women’s basketball, men’s cross country/track, women’s cross country/track, soccer, golf , softball), men’s swimming and diving, women’s swimming and diving, and men’s tennis and volleyball – each sport has an individual team GSR that is above the national average.
