State officials visited the site of a geothermal project being developed by Erdwerme Inn GmbH & Co. in Polling, Bavaria, Germany. Drilling is currently underway on site using a rig manufactured by Herrenknecht Vertical GmbH.
The Pawling geothermal project, with a planned thermal capacity of 30 MW, is envisioned to supply hot water for heating two greenhouses in the nearby communities of Reichenspurner Hof and Pawling. A portion of the energy will also be supplied to the planned district heating networks in Mühldorf am Inn and Tüssling.

Two boreholes up to a depth of 4000 meters are being drilled at the Poling geothermal project. Drilling is being carried out by the Innova Rig (TI418) manufactured by Herrenknecht Vertical GmbH and developed in collaboration with drilling companies H. Anger’s Söhne and GFZ Potsdam. TI-418 has been used since 2007, mainly in Germany, but also in various European projects aimed at energy transition in Sweden, Finland and the United Kingdom.
