Father expresses his happiness at being reunited with his daughter after all these years

A girl who went missing from Islamabad 17 years ago has been found at the Edhi Centre in Karachi. Kiran, now 27 years old, was reunited with her father on Monday (today).

Kiran recounted that she had gone out to get ice cream all those years ago, but got lost. She said someone took her to the Edhi Centre in Islamabad before she was brought to the Karachi centre by Bilquis Edhi.

Sabah Faisal Edhi, wife of the foundation’s chairperson, said that several trips had been arranged to Islamabad to trace Kiran’s parents, but they were never found.

Abdul Majeed, Kiran’s father, said that after his daughter went missing, the family searched extensively but found no trace of her. He added that the hope of finding Kiran had nearly faded when, suddenly, police contacted the family and informed them of the girl’s whereabouts.

He expressed his happiness at being reunited with his daughter after all these years, saying his joy is beyond measure.

Recounting her time at the Edhi Centre, Kiran said that she received both religious and worldly education and will always remember her time at the centre fondly. She said she “received the love of a mother and father,” learnt how to cook and sew, and was given strength when she lost hope of being reunited with her family.

The centre stated that Kiran is the fifth girl from Karachi whose parents have been traced. She was reunited with her family through the efforts of Safe City Punjab.
