MONTGOMERY, Alabama — Governor Kay Ivey today celebrated Alabama’s robust manufacturing sector in celebration of Made in the USA Day, highlighting its role in driving economic growth across the state through high-quality jobs and products that are in demand around the world.
Governor Ivey highlighted that Alabama is a manufacturing powerhouse in the United States, ranking in the top five states for manufacturing job concentration, with the sector making up approximately 17 percent of the state’s gross domestic product and generating more than $40 billion in economic output annually.
“Some of the best products in the world are made right here in Alabama,” said Governor Ivey. “The ‘Made in Alabama’ badge is recognized worldwide as a symbol of unbeatable craftsmanship and unmatched quality.”
The Ivey Administration continues to prioritize efforts to support and expand manufacturing, including workforce development programs, infrastructure investments and fostering a business-friendly climate that have led to significant job creation and economic development across the state.
“Alabama’s manufacturers represent the best of American industry, and their contributions are essential contributors to our state’s economic resilience and national industry,” the governor said.
“‘Made in the USA’ Day is celebrated every day here in Alabama because our state is a recognized leader in producing world-class products,” she added.
Diverse landscapes
Made in the USA Day, celebrated on July 2, is a day to promote sales of locally made products and honor the businesses and individuals who support them.
With more than 4,000 companies employing more than 270,000 people, Alabama’s manufacturing industry is diverse and dynamic: the state serves as a major automotive manufacturing hub, a leader in the aerospace industry, and the largest producer of steel and advanced materials in the United States.
Alabama is home to many well-known manufacturing brands and successful local businesses, as well as small producers of top-notch consumer goods.
“Alabama’s manufacturing sector is experiencing impressive growth across many industries, benefiting communities and families across our state,” said Alabama Secretary of Commerce Ellen McNair.
“Manufacturers across the state are committed to excellence and innovative advancements that will lead Alabama into a more prosperous future.”
