Good news, Reds fans! If you’re planning on going to Great American Ball Park this summer, you might actually be able to save money.
USA Today recently released its rankings of the most affordable ballparks in MLB, and Great American came in highly ranked at No. 3. The Reds’ ballpark was ranked just above Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, and just below LawnDepot Park in Miami, Florida.
Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona was ranked #1 overall.
Great American Ballpark opened in 2003 and has a capacity of 42,271. Located on The Banks, Great American is an affordable place to watch “exciting young talent” while enjoying views of the Ohio River, according to reports. According to USA Today, fans can purchase a $30 package on Thursday that includes a field box or terrace line ticket and a $10 concession credit.
Joe Mock, who has run BaseballParks.com since 1997 and is a USA Today contributor, determined the rankings using Team Marketing Report’s Fan Cost Index (FCI) database, which dates back to 1991 and includes average ticket prices, parking, beer, soda, hot dogs and hats for a family of four.
Mock then evaluated the 2023 survey results, along with team ticket specials and promotions for this season, to determine the eight most affordable major league ballparks for 2024.
Mock has reportedly attended all 30 MLB stadiums, 23 spring training stadiums and 119 minor league stadiums, and has written nearly 100 ballpark reviews since 1997. His ballpark expertise has also landed him appearances on the Travel Channel and the History Channel.
