Vestal, NY – Graduate Men’s Basketball Forward Ahmon Khalid After finishing his college career, he added another honor to his portfolio. Khalid has been selected as a New York State University Scholar-Athlete in men’s basketball, the Higher Education System announced April 19.
Khaled joins BU swimmer George Kipsidze as the Bearcats’ winter winners.
Khalid was re-selected to the America East (AE) All-Defensive Team this season. He finished his career with 1,296 points and 623 rebounds after playing his final two seasons at Binghamton. In conference play, Khalid averaged 13.4 points and 6.8 rebounds (9th in AE) and 37 minutes per game (4th in AE). In the final three games of the regular season, Khalid averaged 17.7 points and 7.7 boards, leading the Bearcats to three wins and a tie for fourth in the standings. He had two double-doubles and was second on the team in scoring and rebounding. Khalid became Binghamton’s first multi-year All-Defensive Team honoree in 16 years.
He also earned America East All-Academic Team honors. Harry is a graduate student studying human rights. He earned a bachelor’s degree in human development and maintained an overall GPA of 3.82.
The SUNY Scholar Athlete Awards recognize outstanding academic and athletic success in 29 different sports and are presented three times a year, coinciding with specific sports during the fall, winter and spring seasons. The Scholar Athlete of the Year in each sport will then be nominated for the Scholar Athlete of the Year in each category for men’s and women’s sports, which will be announced in mid-July.
The Fall Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be announced in January and the Spring Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be announced in June. Student-athletes will receive a photo plaque commemorating their accomplishments.
