NEW DELHI: At least 13 people died in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province on Saturday due to a second round of heavy rains, taking the death toll to 59, Dawn quoted a Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) report as saying. reported.

KP has been witnessing heavy rains since April 12 leading to landslides and the collapse of houses across the region.

According to a KP PDMA report released on Saturday, 33 children, 14 adults and 12 women have been killed and 72 others injured in rain-related incidents since April 12.

In addition, 2,883 homes and 68 schools were damaged and 309 animals were killed, according to the report.

PDMA officials announced that Rs 110 million has been provided to the district as emergency assistance and Rs 90 million has been allocated to tribal areas to continue relief operations.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Tuesday that “another strong westerly wave” is expected to approach western Pakistan, bringing further rain across the country and continuing until April 22.

Additionally, from Wednesday night to April 21, “Rain with snowfall in the high mountains to storms/thunderstorms (light heavy rain, with isolated very heavy falls)” in places such as Shangra, Bunar, Bajaur, Khyber, and Peshawar. is expected.
