Former Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday alleged that plans were being made to bring forward the Jharkhand Assembly elections from the end of this year. Face polls “anytime soon”.
Speaking at Bhognadi in Sahibganj district to mark the anniversary of the 1855 tribal rebellion (Khal) against the British, Soren declared that Indian Bloc leaders would launch their own ‘Khal’ to eradicate the BJP from Jharkhand and the rest of India.
“Today is the first day I have stepped out of my house since I was released on bail and that too on Full Diwas. It is an encouraging day for me and for the Adivasis and Moulvasis of the state. Due to the situation in the country today, the Indian Union has decided to launch a revolution. We have vowed to eradicate these feudalists (BJP) from the state and the country,” Soren said.
The JMM leader said a fresh test has come. “I have come to know that state elections are being held early. I say why postpone them. Elections should be held tomorrow. I promise you that the people have understood their (BJP) ploy…There is complete confusion (in the opposition BJP camp) and conspiracies are being hatched to put me in jail again. But I am not scared,” he said.
The Jharkhand Assembly elections are likely to be held between November and December.
Soren said the BJP had not spared any opposition leader, be it Arvind Kejriwal or himself. “But these people do not know that Jharkhand was consecrated with the blood of revolutionaries from Sidh Kamkhya to now. [one of the key figures in the 1855 Hul] To Birsa Munda… They cannot scare me.”
