Reba McIntyre took center stage in style at the 2024 ACM Awards.
McIntyre, a 69-year-old country singer, hosted the 17th annual awards ceremony on Thursday, May 16, live from the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. McIntyre brought her trademark Western glamor to the star-studded event. And her stylist, Marjane Malakpour, shares all the details behind the night’s two stunning ensembles.
For his hosting duties, McIntyre wore sheer lace pants, a long shiny suit jacket, and show-stopping turquoise jewelry, which Malakpour described as “fun. “It was a little sexy,” he said. She also described the look as “tough, sexy, and Western.”

“Reba is totally hands-on with everything,” the stylist tells PEOPLE about creating McIntyre’s ACM wardrobe. “She knows what works for her body, and she wants to feel comfortable and look beautiful at the same time.”
The star changed her expression while performing her new single “I Can’t” at the awards ceremony. She embraced her country charm by wearing a long black coat over a sparkly silver dress with fringes at the hemline and pairing it with her simple hair and makeup. This is a nod to this song.

“The look of the performance complements the song,” says Malakpour. “The song has very moody lyrics about thunder and rain, and the look reflects that vibe with tattered fringe, leather, and suede. But there’s still a bit of Reba’s signature shine. Masu!”
While McIntyre certainly has a unique style, Malakpour says she’s “open to trying things and she looks great in everything she tries on.”
“She’s a stylist’s dream!” she added.

McIntyre previously told PEOPLE that he was most looking forward to seeing his friends at the awards show.
“I like hanging out with the guys. I love live TV. I get to sing songs and see what other people are promoting and new songs, but basically… To see old friends and meet new people,” she said. I hope everyone will watch it. ”
