Less than a week into summer, the Food and Drug Administration announced a nationwide recall of certain ice cream products.
Totally Cool, an Owings Mills, Md.-based maker of ice cream products, announced Monday that it would begin selling ice cream products in the coming days. All ice cream products banned due to Listeria contamination fearsIt is a bacterium that can cause serious infections.
Affected products include more than 60 products in total, including pints, ice cream cakes and ice cream sandwiches. These products are distributed nationwide and sold in retail stores and through direct delivery.
The recall includes the following 13 ice cream brands:

- Hershey’s Ice Cream
- Hey!
- Jenny’s (Ice Cream Sandwiches)
- Cumberland Farm
- Frozen Farmer
- Marco
- Chip Witch
- AMAFruits
- Taharqa
- Dolcezza Gelato
- LaSalle

Totally Cool has stopped production and distribution of the affected products after FDA testing revealed the presence of the bacteria.
Even healthy people who become infected with Listeria may experience symptoms such as high fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
