Orange County is close to offering incentives to lure film and television production back to Central Florida.

The county’s Film Incentives Task Force on Oct. 29 proposed $22 million in incentives over five years through a tourism development tax levy on film and television productions. Since August, the county has hosted a group of experts including educators, economic development officials, industry officials and others in an effort started by Commissioner Emily Bonilla.

Rosann Harrington, chief of staff to Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, said in a presentation that the goal is to create opportunities for area students to work in the industry and expand visitation and promotion to the area. Ta. The idea is to only cover footage taken within the county.
