Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Authority (Hong Kong Academy of Science and Technology) has signed partnership agreements with 11 advanced manufacturing companies as part of the city’s efforts to become an innovation hub.

These tech companies will set up research and development centres, operations and production bases in the Hong Kong Institute of Science and Technology’s Science Park, Hong Kong’s start-up hub, and Innopark, the Hong Kong Institute of Science and Technology’s large-scale production space to foster technological innovation.

This will generate synergy with local businesses, research institutes and higher education institutions, promote the development of a diversified industrial chain, and create a vibrant innovation and technology ecosystem in Hong Kong, Sun Tung, director-general of Hong Kong’s Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau, said at the signing ceremony on Friday.

“These outstanding companies have chosen to set up their businesses and expand their advanced manufacturing operations in Hong Kong, demonstrating their confidence in Hong Kong’s efforts to build an international innovation and technology hub,” Sun said.

According to Sun, many of these companies are industry leaders, spanning fields such as biopharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, robotics and automation, semiconductors, new energy vehicles and green energy.

Total investment by these companies could reach HK$14 billion (US$1.8 billion) and create more than 2,200 jobs, he added.

The 11 companies are Adaspace Technology, Advanced Isotopes Technology Asia, BeyonCa HK, China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong), Enpower Greentech, Henan Oriental Materials, Jacobson Pharma, Jiangsu National Chip Intelligence Equipment, Mission Information Technologies, Pudu Robotics HK and Unity Drive.
