ottawa, ontario, May 21, 2024 /CNW/ – The Michener Award Foundation (MAF) today announced that Chantal Hebert and Terry Mosher Recipient of the prestigious Michener Baxter Award for exceptional contributions to public service journalism in Canada.
The Michener-Baxter Award was established in 1983 and is awarded at the discretion of the Foundation Board of Directors. The name of the award is clive baxterawarded the first Michener Award in 1971 by then-Governor General Roland Michener.
“This year, the Michener Prize Foundation is proud to honour these two great journalists who have dedicated their careers to informing, educating and entertaining Canadians,” he said. Recipients of the Michener-Baxter Award are selected by a committee of the MAF Board of Directors following an open call for nominations. The award criteria can be found here.
Chantal Hebert, OC; He is a freelance political columnist whose work has been featured on radio, television and print in French and English. Ms. Hébert received the Michener Baxter Award in recognition of her efforts over the past several decades to explain English and French Canada to each other and to herself. She is widely considered to be one of the country’s best political analysts in terms of federal-provincial relations and national unity. On the contrary, her knowledge, her expertise and her judgment, combined with her unique blend of moral authority and political realism, give her an unparalleled opinion.
Terry MosherO.C.I started drawing portraits on the street. Quebec City Since 1967, he has been drawing manga under the pen name AISLIN. He has spent most of his career working for the Montreal Gazette, but his work has been published all over the world. Mr. Mosher received the Michener Baxter Award for his efforts to inform and uplift Canadians through fresh but not cruel humor. He is also recognized for his leadership in encouraging cartoonists in countries where free expression is suppressed and in reminding Canadians and many others around the world of the importance of free speech through his generous philanthropy.

Both Michener-Baxter Award winners will receive their awards at a ceremony to be held at: Ottawa upon June 14th Hosted by Her Excellency Governor-General Mary Simon at Rideau Hall Canada. The evening gala will also recognize 2024 Michener Fellowship recipients, Michener Award winners and finalists.
