Hornets selects new business operations manager

The Cleveland Cavaliers became one of the most profitable franchises in the NBA during Kyette Weston’s time with the team.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Hornets have named their next director of business operations.

Sherry Cayette Weston was hired for the position. She spent the past 12 years with the Cleveland Cavaliers, two of which she served as executive vice president and chief commercial officer.

In his role, Kayette Weston will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Hornets, Greensboro Swarm, Hornets Venom GT and Spectrum Center.

“We are pleased to welcome Shelly to Hornets Sports & Entertainment,” Hornets ownership group chairman Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin said in a release. “As we got to know Sherry, we were impressed by her leadership skills, experience, and ability to build relationships with key stakeholders, including her corporate partners, ticket holders, and community members. received.”

Kayette Weston previously oversaw the development and growth of several of the Cavaliers’ business ventures.

This isn’t her first time in Charlotte working for the Hornets franchise. Before joining the Cavaliers, Kayette Weston worked in the marketing and business department for the New Orleans Hornets (now the Pelicans) for five years.

“I am very excited to join Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) and become a part of the Charlotte community. I would like to thank all my team members for supporting me over the years,” Kayette Weston said. “This is an exciting time for HSE, with the passion, vision and dedication of Rick and Gabe, along with innovative arena renovations and new basketball leadership in Jeff Peterson and Charles. Mr. Lee.”

The Hornets’ new ownership group took over before the 2023-2024 season and has shown quick interest in steering the team in the right direction on and off the court. Although Charlotte had a disastrous 21-61 season, he flourished at the NBA trade deadline and made headlines by hiring Charles Lee as the team’s next head coach. The HSE also announced new investment in the refurbished Spectrum Center, demonstrating a significant commitment to the team.
