However, the team has not performed very well in this format since the T20 World Cup in 2022. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has replaced four presidents during this period and even tried a different captain in Shaheen Afridi for one series, but the plan was abandoned ahead of the major tournament.
Pakistan are also among the World Cup teams that will not play any warm-up matches, opting instead to take part in three-match and four-match T20 series against Ireland and England respectively.

Pakistan have opted not to take part in either the warm-up matches in the West Indies or the United States and will instead play their opening World Cup match against the USA on June 6.
