DOUGLAS AND SARPE COUNTY, Neb. (KMTV) — Golf whenever you want. That’s the motto at Swing365 in Gretna.

A new business offering 24-hour access to golf simulators for a subscription fee.

“We saw an opportunity to get out into the community and provide 24/7 service,” owner Ramsey Doresh said.

Golfers like John Schutz pay a monthly fee to have full access to the golf simulator at any time.

“I like being able to take an hour or 30 minutes and work on what I want to do,” Schutz said.

It’s the same at Millard, where the new pool hall at Cloud 9 Billiards Club offers members unlimited use of the pool tables.

“We’re 100 percent confident this will be a success,” owner Tommy LaCarbo said. “We’ve been working on it since last summer.”

Lacalvo said he’s confident the model will be successful in Omaha because he’s seen it succeed in other cities and players have proven they’re willing to pay to play on their own schedule.

“…If I wake up at 4am and can’t sleep, I’ll come and hang out here, either by myself or with someone,” said subscriber Molly Maguire.

It’s a fast-growing business model, with the market expected to exceed $900 billion by 2026, according to The Business Research Company.

Brent Clark, a business professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, said the subscription model can be profitable for companies if used correctly.

“From the business side, they’ve always been pretty used to the idea that it’s something they own and not something the consumer owns,” Clark said, “so if that’s allowed, they’d probably go for it because of those benefits and they’d be pretty fond of that model.”

Clark said he hopes the model will continue to grow and spread across different industries.

For Lacalvo, this is an opportunity to expand the business and leverage a growth model.

“This is my passion,” he said. “Billiards is my passion.”
