Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the 8070 Ramadan Relief Package 2025, a Rs20 billion initiative to support low-income families across Pakistan ahead of the holy month of Ramzan.

The scheme aims to provide 4 million eligible families with cash assistance of Rs10,000, as well as subsidies on essential food items, through a streamlined digital distribution system. This system is designed to replace the long queues at Utility Stores that were previously seen during Ramadan.

Two-Tier relief initiative

The 8070 Ramadan Relief Package consists of two components:

Cash Assistance: Eligible families will receive Rs10,000 in direct financial aid to help with household expenses during Ramadan.

Ration Subsidy: Discounts will be provided on essential food items, including flour, sugar, pulses, ghee, and rice.

To qualify for the 8070 Ramzan Relief Package, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Eligibility criteria for the Ramadan Relief Package

Be registered under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) or the Ehsaas Programme.

Not be receiving financial aid from any other government relief program.

Possess a valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).

Registration process

Eligible individuals can apply through the official PSER portal by entering their CNIC and mobile phone number and filling out the registration form. Alternatively, applicants can send their CNIC number via SMS to 8070 to check eligibility and receive further instructions.

Disbursement of funds

To ensure smooth distribution of funds, the government has introduced multiple disbursement channels:

Bank Transfers: Funds will be directly transferred to accounts in HBL, UBL, and Bank Alfalah.
Mobile Wallets: Beneficiaries can access funds through Easypaisa and JazzCash.
Ehsaas Program Centers: Those without bank accounts can collect their aid from designated Ehsaas Centers.
Union Council Offices: Final verification and fund collection are available at local government offices.

The government has urged eligible families to complete their registration as soon as possible to avoid delays in receiving assistance. With the registration deadline approaching, early enrolment is encouraged to ensure timely disbursement of funds.

In an official statement, the Prime Minister’s Office highlighted, “The 8070 Ramadan Relief Package is designed to ease the financial burden on struggling families and ensure they have access to essential food supplies during Ramzan.”

For further information, individuals can visit the official 8070 web portal or send their CNIC number to 8070 for quick eligibility verification.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Ramadan package in the federal capital, revealed that this year, four million families (approximately 20 million people) will be provided Rs 5,000 per household through a digital wallet.

He thanked Allah and said, “This year, inflation during Ramadan is lower compared to previous years. The government has allocated a significant amount of Rs 20 billion for the Ramadan package, which will benefit 4 million Pakistani households.”
