Have your friends or TikTok For You pages encouraged you to watch the 2024 season of Love Island USA, but you’re not sure how or where to start?
It might be daunting to jump on a show that’s already aired six seasons and over 100 episodes, but you’ve come to the right place.
If this is the first time you’ve heard about Peacock’s dating show, it may be because “Love Island USA” recently reached new heights in viewership, two years after the streaming service acquired the series from Paramount+.
Here’s USA TODAY’s guide to everything Love Island USA and everything you need to know before entering the villa.

What happens on Love Island?
The wildly popular series “Love Island” began in the UK in 2015, and the UK series is currently in its 11th season (available in the US on Hulu).

The show’s concept is similar to many reality dating shows, in that contestants live together far away from friends and family, have no cell phone service and search for love with other contestants. With over 80 cameras strategically placed throughout the villa (including in the bedrooms and bathrooms) and microphones picking up every word, Love Island is every Dramatic or intimate moments.
But unlike most reality TV shows, “Love Island” airs almost in real time.
The islanders spend their days chatting, exercising, playing games and taking part in the show’s challenges, and most of the time they all have to couple up to stay on the show.
Throughout the season, new cast members, or “bombshells,” enter the villa, testing the bonds of existing relationships, and every few days, one (or several) Islanders are “dumped” through a voting process that changes every time.
In the end, only a few couples will remain and viewers will have to vote for their favourite couple to win the cash prize.
Where can I watch ‘Love Island USA’?
“Love Island USA” is available exclusively on Peacock.

How to watch Love Island USA season 6

Peacock will release new episodes of “Love Island USA” “every day except Wednesday,” and you can watch the show from 6pm PST/9pm ET.
There will be no new developments coming out of the villa on Saturday. Instead, Aftersun host Maura Higgins (who appeared on Love Island UK season 5) will be talking about the latest developments with the show’s main host Ariana Madix, recently separated cast members, famous alumni and other guest stars.
Sometimes they share new “Love Island” footage that didn’t make it to the final edit, or introduce the bombshells entering the villa.

What is Casa Amor on ‘Love Island’?

As the Islanders begin to settle in with each season, the show’s producers turn up the heat by doubling the number of eligible contestants.
It soon becomes clear that those in power often secretly separate the men and women, leaving them to live in separate villas for a few days and get to know an entirely new group of people – times that, as the islanders say, really test relationships.
In season six, producers first made the men an offer that would ultimately be shocking to their spouses: They had the choice to stay in the “Love Island” villa or go to Casa Amor.
In a surprise move, the six guys – Cordell, Miguel, Rob, Kendall, Kenny and Aaron – head to a new villa and meet six new women. After a few days apart, the original cast reunites to find out who stayed faithful to their partners and who got back together.
What is a “Love Island” movie night?

Of the various games and challenges Islanders take part in, “Movie Night” is one of the most dramatic.
The producers sit everyone down sometime later after the Casa Amor drama starts to heat up so the cast can see and hear exactly what everyone’s been saying behind their backs all season.
Islanders might catch their friends talking bad about them or their partners getting intimate with others at Casa Amor. “Movie Night” shows these clueless reality TV stars exactly what viewers have been watching for weeks.
What does “soul ties is crazy” mean?
In Season 5, “soul ties” went from being written on one of the many neon signs scattered throughout the villa to what may have become Love Island USA’s first catchphrase, when first-day contestant Kay Kay Gray said, “Soul ties is crazy” (emphasis on the “ay-zee”).
The “Soul Ties” neon sign was placed in a spot where islanders could socialize away from prying eyes (not HD cameras, of course). The cost? Cast members could hear the conversation from below.
From breakups to hooking up with other partners, wild things happen when Islanders go to “Soul Tides.” It solidified its reputation as a place where dramatic events happen, leading to the name “Crazy on Soul Tides.” With the neon sign making a comeback in Season 6, the newest cast is keeping Kay Kay’s legend alive.
Why is Love Island USA suddenly so popular?
According to a July 11 press release, Season 6 of “Love Island USA” garnered double the viewership of previous seasons and became Peacock’s “most-watched and most-talked-about series in terms of viewership hours and social conversation.”
The sudden surge in interest could be down to new host Ariana Madix, who’s just come off a breakout year with Scandalous, Scandalous, Dancing with the Stars, and her Broadway debut, but the main reason is the high-energy drama and constantly unfolding storylines from the sixth season’s cast, which have sparked heated online debate about who’s real and who’s faking it until the finale.
“The word we’re using to describe this season is ‘the perfect storm,'” the series’ executive producer Simon Thomas recently explained to Rolling Stone . “It’s hard to explain one element of this show as the sole thing that’s kept it going. Everything is working at the same time, and it’s almost magical.”
