How to wear this spring’s coquette trend

It’s 2024 very Coquette so far. If you’re not familiar with the term, it’s a trending look that gained traction on TikTok this year. This vibe primarily focuses on a rustic, ultra-feminine aesthetic with sweet florals, cottagecore-style lace, and of course lots of pretty bows. Everyone from Jennie to Lana Del Rey has weighed in on these styling choices. Think of this trend as the fashion equivalent of a truly decadent dessert. It’s often a little over the top, but still a lot of fun to watch.

Thanks to stars like Kendall Jenner and Selena Gomez, coquette style is still a trend for spring, but in a more sophisticated form.

Over the weekend, the duo will be adding new stamps to their looks. On Instagram, Jenner celebrated Easter in a chic white Rodarte dress with two bows with black bows on each shoulder. She kept her coquette look to a minimum by accenting her look with elegant black pumps and no other accessories.

Meanwhile, Gomez took a similarly pared-down approach to the New York City trend. The singer and Rare Beauty founder wore a black off-the-shoulder Oscar de la Renta dress that was embellished with a heap of ribbons along the bust. She added sleek Louboutin pumps, Pasquale Bruni jewelry, and a Saint Laurent bag.

Both looks show that you can be a coquette girl this spring without looking like, say, Marie Antoinette. The key is to choose one flirty detail (in this case, the bow!) and let the rest of the ensemble stand out. we have to admit. Jenner and Gomez make a persistent and somewhat polarizing trend look good.
