In a sports market that can sometimes seem cursed, fans are soaking up the buzz of their local teams’ recent successes.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Twins’ winning streak came to an end Sunday, but local sports fans are still buzzing about the recent trends of most local professional sports franchises.

Good news appears to be coming from a number of venues, including Target Field, Target Center, Allianz Stadium, and U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Timberwolves defeated the Suns in the first round of the NBA playoffs, and have already taken their first game against the Nuggets in the second round. As Twins fans headed to Target Field on Sunday afternoon, the team was riding a double-digit winning streak that reminded them of the streak that propelled them to the 1991 World Series championship.

“This is great! It’s been a long time,” Patty Stanek told KARE heading into the Twins’ game against the Red Sox on Sunday.

“I’m excited for them and the Timberwolves and the Vikings’ new quarterback! Here we go, our city! Everyone’s buzzing.”

Chris Simpson was also pleased with the direction of his local team in a market where not enough good news often spreads.

“It’s exciting! It’s really exciting to see here. We’ve lived here for 12 years and this is the first time I’ve felt the energy! The Vikings just had a great draft and there’s a lot of good things going on in sports. is happening. “

His son, Kayden, was enjoying the positive vibes, especially for a basketball team that has been on the rocks in recent memory.

“I’m really happy with how our sports teams are doing! The Wolves defeated Denver in the first game, which gave us great hope that we can advance to the finals.”

Minnesota sports fans are familiar with that drill. Years that begin with high hopes and then disappear or collapse at the last moment. In fact, some say the excitement of a winning streak is enough for the sports gods to jinx the home team.

But others aren’t sweating it. They say it’s okay either way.

“I don’t care even if there’s disappointment,” Twins fan Gene Howarth told KARE. “No, I just hope for the best and cheer like crazy. It’s fun.”

Her friend Barb Salomon added, “It’s not just about winning, it’s about having fun.”
