About Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan
- The past decade has seen significant improvements in regional connectivity and interdependence. If you look at Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka, you will see that Bangladesh and Nepal have much greater road and rail connectivity, fuel pipelines, increased business volumes and access to ports in Bangladesh.
- Many of these have a major impact on eastern and northeastern states. Structurally, relations with Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan are actually going well. About Sri Lanka
- In the case of Sri Lanka, we have three major recommendations. 1) Overpass to Sri Lanka, 2) Power grid to Sri Lanka, 3) Fuel pipeline to Sri Lanka.About Maldives
- Our development projects are progressing well, but there have been some political turmoil that we hope we can manage. After my counterpart’s visit, things became a little more constructive.About Pakistan
- We have continued to struggle with the fact that they are relentless in carrying out cross-border terrorism. Our country’s past attitude has been to tolerate terrorism as an abnormal act by a neighboring country. The people of this country have made a clear decision that they will not accept that in 2024. This country has very low tolerance for cross-border terrorism of any kind. It is clear that if something like this happens, both the LoC and IB will be affected. Now the ball is in their court. message to pakistan
- If we scale back this industry that they have created, people will treat them as normal neighbors. Make this their core competency and it will define their image. We’ve been upfront with them… They have to make a decision. Part of the problem is that since 2019, then-Iran Khan’s government has taken a number of steps that have worsened relations. We didn’t do it, they did it. Our message is very clear.About China
- There are at least three aspects regarding China. The basic aspect is, if the peace and tranquility of a border area is disturbed, would you do business with someone who wants to break into your reception room and mess up your fence? If we are destroying it and doing something at the border, how can we say that the business world will continue as usual and other things will not continue as usual?…This is not the case, by the way. It doesn’t mean business will stop, the numbers show that. We need to define the problem. Today we need to take precautions and identify which companies are more sensitive than others.
- Another problem that has accumulated over the past two decades is the trade imbalance issue. In the long term, we need to consider how to promote domestic sourcing and manufacturing.
- Third, there needs to be a national security filter. As for China, we will continue to encourage people in this country to manufacture in India and source from India. But we do not have a complete and utter ban on people working with China, but we would rather work with Indian companies when the option is available…It is good for national security. We hope you find it good for your business in the long runRegarding the impact of the conflict in Ukraine
- according to P.T.I.Jaishankar delved broadly into the impact of the conflict in Ukraine, escalating violence in West Asia, and logistics disruption in light of geopolitical tensions, sanctions, drone attacks, and climate change.
- “The world is experiencing a 3F crisis of fuel, food and fertilizer. In Asia, new tensions are emerging on land and sea as agreements are broken and the rule of law is ignored. Terrorism and extremism “In many ways, we are really experiencing a perfect storm.”
